Parents

Parents, families and caregivers want to reinforce classroom instruction in order to support their child’s reading development. Teachers encourage parents to read with their child and may require reading at home as homework. However, time spent reading at home may not produce maximum academic benefits for several reasons. The parent may not be equipped with strategies for supporting early reading development or may feel unable to support their child. The child may have avoidance behaviors that sidetrack the time away from actual reading. Parents are often looking for a way to make reading together fun and productive.

Zirkel was created with parents in mind!  Zirkel incorporates instructional best practices in the context of a game. Parents can be confident that while playing Zirkel they are reinforcing research based reading instruction. Reading practice becomes appealing for kids because playing Zirkel allows the child to have control. Game play provides positive one-on-one social interaction, as well as feeling less like schoolwork.

Children reported 98% of the time that playing Zirkel made reading fun while 75% of children shared that Zirkel game play positively changed their perception of reading.
